Panel recommendations for Osteoporosis Vertebral Compression Fracture Therapy Management
* Unfavorable factors are: Impact of VCF on daily functioning, evolution of symptoms, spinal deformity, presence of pulmonary dysfunction, proof of on-going fracture process.
- For three-quarters of the profiles, only one treatment was considered appropriate: Non Surgical management 25%, Vertebroplasty 6%, and Balloon Kyphoplasty 45%.
- Profiles for which more than one treatment was appropriate concerned only the combination Vertebroplasty and Balloon Kyphoplasty (21%).
- Panelists had chosen clinical variables on the basis of their clinical experience, leading to a higher specificity of recommendations than is possible on the basis of the available Randomized Control Trials outcomes.
